Book publishing house for vocational and vocational education

IÐNÚ was founded in 1949 with the purpose of supporting vocational and vocational education in Iceland. At that time, there was a small supply of teaching materials in Icelandic for trades, so students had to rely on foreign books that were not suitable for Icelandic conditions.

Over 75 years, the publication has grown from a handful of titles to over 600 ''' books, e-books, webbooks, travel cards and stationery The publication is based on a tight partnership with teachers, professionals and schools across the country Every single book is tested in the classroom before it goes into circulation.

We are a small publishing house that serves a big role. Our books are used in over 40 secondary schools and professional schools from Vestmannaeyjar to Akureyri ÅR AND we ship the same day from stock in Brautarholt.

1949

Institute OF INDUSTRY

IÐNÚ founded in Reykjavík as a publishing company for apprentices - the first project was a textbook in metalwork.

Brautholt 8

The publication moves to Brautarholt 8, where it has been ever since - both editorial and stock.
1975

100 titles

The publication list goes to a hundred titles and IÐNÚ books have become the core material in most industrial programs in the country.
1989

40th anniversary

IÐNÚ celebrates 40 years with a new series for electronics and metalwork - teaching materials revised in collaboration with industrial teachers.
2010

The e-books

IÐNÚ's first e-books are published - students get access to the curriculum on tablets and smartphones.
2017

Webbooks with QR

QR codes in the inner panel open the door to webbooks with videos and interactive exercises - at no extra cost.
2024

77 years for education

Over 600 titles on the publication list, collaboration with 40+ colleges and new publication of mathematics and apprenticeships along the way.
